The Verplanck FD and EMS train for events that can become realilty at any give time. This drill was brought to you by LT Gabe Hayes. Lt Hayes advised members that there was a fisherman who wandered off into the woods nearby the pond he had been missing for about 30 minutes. The patient (our full body cpr dummy) had a cardiac condition prior to this disapperance and was last seen in the wooded area off Riverview Ave, Members searched the wooded area using special equipment such as a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), while employing a grid search technique. The "patient" was found unresponsive and not breathing well into the woods. The crew then performed CPR while transporting the patient from the woods to the awaiting ambulance 83B1 and 35M2 - Steve Colt (who was in the area awaiting for his next 911 call and decide to train with us.) Our EMT's in Training Amanda Wessells and Megan Fausner were able to perform their skills they have learned from their EMT class while being evaluated by our local medic. The Verplanck Crew did a great job refreshing their skills to help its community at any given time for unforeseen incidents that may arise.

On April 24 Verplanck FD was assisting Peekskill EMS with U-29 and U-30(Gator) for the annual Mountain Bike Race through the woods of Blue Mountain Park. U-30 was requested to act as a point to point transfer (woods to standing by ambulance) for any injuried mountain biker that may occur in the woods. The crew had to respond twice into the woods and had to transport one biker to a standing by ambulance for further evaluation. Thank You Peekskill EMS for the invite and Thank You to the members of Verplanck FD who were standing by LT John Delaney (EMT), LT Roberto Rosario, LT Gabe Hayes, FF Michael Eichler (Gator Driver) picture taken by LT Hayes shown in photo is LT Rosario and FF Eichler
