May 29, 2017 - Memorial Day Parade - UPDATE!!!
On behalf of the Chief of the Department the Tri Village Memorial Day Parade has been cancelled due to inclement weather, there will be a Memorial Ceremony held at Verplanck HQ 238 8th Street Verplanck NY at 11:00am, Hotdogs and beverages will be served after. All are asked to attend.

The Verplanck Fire Department is a volunteer fire department located in Westchester County, NY. The department protects the hamlet of Verplanck within the Town of Cortlandt. The Verplanck Fire District also includes several commercial sites including the Indian Point Energy Center located in the neighboring town of Buchanan.
The Department answers approximately 250 alarms per year consisting of fire alarms, ambulance calls, auto accidents, boating incidents on the Hudson River, and other emergencies. We provide mutual aid to our neighboring departments of Montrose, Buchanan, Montrose VAFD, Croton, as well as the City of Peekskill.

As mention at a meeting that once all dues for 2016 were paid that an update of the Membership Password should be changed on a yearly basis. As of April 23rd the new password has been changed. DID YOU KNOW? When you see an approaching Blue Flashing Light in your rear-view mirror it is a Volunteer Fireman or EMT responding to either a Fire or Ambulance Call. These personnel need to get to the firehouse or to the scene as quickly as possible to render the service needed in a timely fashion. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS and PULL OVER, STOP and LET THEM PASS. Someone is depending on their help and sometimes seconds really do count.
MOVE OVER LAW NYS VTL 1144-a DID YOU KNOW? When you see any emergency vehicle (Police, Fire, Ambulance,Tow Trucks) on the side of the road with their Emergency Flashers on you need to SLOW DOWN AND MOVE OVER! If you are not able to move over to a new lane you MUSTreduce your speed and watch for instruction of personnel who may be directing traffic and proceed pass the emergency scene safely and slowly.

New Member Applications: The Verplanck Fire Department is always looking for New Active Firefighters and EMS Members
Firefighters can join starting at the age of 16 and will be able to ride both Fire & EMS Calls
EMS Only Members can Join starting at age 18 and must be willing to take a New York State Basic EMT Course
