| It is with great sadness that we share the passing of James (Jim) A. Burns, who passed away peacefully at the FASNY Firefighter’s Home in Hudson, NY, on October 28, 2026.
Jim dedicated many years of service to the Verplanck fire service, proudly serving in every rank, including Chief of the Department. He also served twice as President of the Fire Company. In 1987, he was elected to the Verplanck Board of Fire Commissioners, where he served as Chairman until his appointment to a state position.
Jim’s dedication, leadership, and years of commitment to the fire service and the Verplanck community will not be forgotten.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.
