It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Commissioner and Past Captain Shawn O’Mara Sr.
Shawn was a dedicated and active member of the Verplanck Fire Protective Association, having joined the department in November of 1989. Throughout his many years of service, he held several leadership roles, most recently serving as Chairman of the Fire District Board and as Past Captain.
A proud Navy veteran, lifelong “Pointer,” and friend to many, Shawn’s commitment, leadership, and kindness touched everyone who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed by all members of the Verplanck Fire Department and the community he served so faithfully.

Visitation: O’Mara Carpentieri Funeral Home — Wednesday, September 17, from 1:00–4:00 PM and 5:00–8:00 PM

Funeral Mass: St. Patrick’s Church, Verplanck — Thursday, September 18, at 10:00 AM
