At 11:05am on Tuesday May 31, 2016 Croton FD requested Verplanck Fire Marine 1 to respond to the area of Croton Point Park at Teller Point for a missing fisherman in the Hudson River. Verplanck Marine 1 assembled at Viking Boat Yard with Assistance Chief Michael Ruh (2493), FF Robert Morrison, Ex- Chief Robert Daley and FF Michael Eichler. Car 2491 James O'Brien and Car 2493 Thomas O'Brien responded to Croton Point Park where command was established by Croton FD 2089 John Munson to assist ground crews. Verplanck members standing by in district was Captain Paul O'Brien, FF Steve Trend, FF Jeanne O'Brien FF Troy Dyckman. Marine 1 set up in a perimeter motion around Teller Point to assist in the search, FF Michael Eichler was able to enter the water in a dry suit to mark the last know location for the divers from Yorktown FD and Mahopac Falls FD, Also in assistance was Westchester County PD Marine Units, Westchester County PD Aviation Unit, Ossining PD Marine Unit, under the Command of Croton FD Ground units and Marine units, Rehab was also provided by Cortlandt VAC, Croton EMS, and Ossining EMS on standby while divers were in the water. Around 3:45pm Chief 2491 requested additional tones for manpower to respond to the firehouse for a boat crew relief. At 4:10pm Chief 2491 retoned and advised all responding units to respond to Viking Boat Yard for the Marine Unit Relief and Car 2491 was also enroute to the boat yard. While responding back out to the Croton Point at 4:15pm, Car 2089 John Munson advised to go back in service that the search was being called off for the day with negative results.
