Monday June 27, 2016 4 members from Verplanck FD took Utility-29 and attended a Con Edison Sub-Station Fire class held at Westchester County Department of Emergency Service Building. The class was taught by Con Edison Rep and Westchester DES. The class was a 2 part class with classroom and hands on using F-500 Foam. Verplanck does not have a substation in our fire district but we do have one located in our neighboring district Buchanan FD right near Indian Point and we want to train and be prepared for every type of incident we may incounter. Just like the incident this past weekend in Rockland. Where a Sub Station caught fire mutual aid was requested from near and far including Westchester and FDNY. Congrulations to the members who attended the drill today FF Michael Eichler, FF Ivan Ward Jr, Ex-Chief/Captain Paul O'Brien, and Asst. Chief Thomas O'Brien.
